This time the concert revolves around their latest album Rainbow 7 and since I had such a fondness for that album this concert is a special treat for me.

Once you've watched one Morning Musume concert you've pretty much seen them all. Nothing out of the ordinary here, the girls are split into groups at times and some are given solos, lets not forget the occasional dialogue as well.

From what I've seen there seems to be a larger emphasis on Eri and Risa in this concert. I guess they have to start pushing the lesser known girls into the limelight before the graduation of Konkon and Makoto to keep the audience's interest.

One big disappointment for me was the fact that Koharu and Sayumi lip-synched Rainbow Pink. I guess it's hard to keep that high pitch voice while dancing.

The stage also has a little more pizazz to it than other concerts. A lot of lights flashing here and its very nice. The production values are pretty high for the concert. All in all a great concert and when it comes down to it, it's all about Morning Musume performing live.

AAA - Kimono Jet Girl

Seems like the only thing that gets me excited enought to blog is the release of a new AAA single. This time it's Kimono Jet Girl and to my surprise and delightment it only has the members of the fairer sex. Did I miss something? I havn't been that up to date with the Jpop scene lately. Did they finally decide to cut all the guys? I can only wish.

I'll be the first to admit the only name I know from AAA is Misako, and I don't even know her last name. The girls definitely look cute in their pseudo-kimono outfits while doing the robot and other such funny dances. And also lets not forget the money shots of them dressed in flight attendant uniforms flirting with the camera.

So another AAA video, another premise, and without using too much of your brain you can figure its about a Kimono Jet Girl, or three. Could Japan have a new infatuation with flight attendates, probably thanks in part to the popularity of the drama Attention Please! with Ueto Aya. Maybe I'll have a special flight attendant writeup...

AAA - Hurricane Riri, Boston Mari

New song by AAA just hit the net and once again everyone has a new style. This time they're stranded on an island, kind of a LOST setting with airplane seats and makeshift tents. The song is nothing out of the ordinary for these kids, another upbeat catchy song. Since my Japanese is still at an elementary level I'm going to interpret it as I please.

All the kiddies realize they're stranded. Misako doesn't need to do any of the work because she's special and gets all the lines. She is now the assumed leader of the new society. She just sings for everyone and that makes them happy to be her slaves.

Oh no! Just like in any growing society there will be internal strife. What could this struggle be about?!? Did someone insult someone's hair??

"I see a plane! But they'll be attack by the "others" and end up staying on the island and discovering the secrets within.

What ever happened to the They can not escape from here... part of the last video? I was hoping for a continuation. :(

I think the actual video is about AAA getting stranded on the island and another group named BBB debuts because of the lost (no pun intended). That's at least what I think. Currently my favorite song!

Edit:Thought I'd test out YouTube. The two that I most disliked when I first got into Morning Musume are now graduating. But my opinion has since changed slightly. Konno has definitely made her way up to the top 5, probably based on the fact that she is the smartest of all of the momosu, as the bakajo test proved. Ogawa is still my least favorite momosu, but she has gone from unbearable to acceptable and even has her good days on occasion.

This might be the shakeup that Morning Musume may need to make things more interesting. This makes the probability of another audition very likely and hopefully this time Tsunku will pick a girl that is a little bit older. I would say the prime age would be 16 years old, don't ask me why, it just feels right. Oh dear lord please make me worship Morning Musume once more.

It's happened!

I think I finally have lost all of my interest in Morning Musume. Nothing about them seems to captivate me anymore, and I'm slowly starting to fall for Berryz Koubou. They just have that thing that Morning Musume use to have, that charm, or maybe I just like cheering for the underdog.

Watching the recent Utaban with the old Morning Musume definitely pushed me over the edge, the old school momosu just had that X factor about them. I can't describe it, but they just had it. The current gen is blah, they just don't have the defining personalities that each of the old school members have.

Maybe it is time to have Morning Musume fade away. The song I'm talking about is misono's VS. It's so upbeat and such squeaky clean fun and is a huge departure from her Day After Tomorrow days, as far as the songs I've listened to.

That's all I'll say for now, been real busy with classes lately. But spring break will be next week! So I'll leave you with a nice download of the song for now. Clicky.

SweetS Calling It Quits

Just caught news of SweetS breakup up over at Cult of Pop and I am kind of dumbfounded right now. I was never a big fan nor did I ever know them really well, but they were growing on me. Mostly I would listen to their old songs, my favorite being Lolita Strawberry in Summer.

Their newest single to put it lightly sucked in my opinion. It sounded so generic and lacks that spark the earlier singles had. Even with that fact I still didn't expect them to break up. Could this be a sign for more girl groups to end it?

dream might be a possible candidate, their recent singles haven't been that great either. They have little exposure compared to other girl groups and probably have fallen out of the radar of most casual jpop fans. I don't want to say it but if dream did break up it wouldn't affect me at all.

Morning Musume is still doing the best out of all girl groups, so it's highly unlikely, at least for now, for them to break up.

Then there's HINOI Team. One of the reasons that I've been thinking is that HINOI Team might be a factor in the breakup of SweetS. They have been appearing on so many TV programs and may have filled that niche that SweetS used to have. Both are under the avex label, so could the big hats have pulled the plug on SweetS to continue fueling the moderate success of HINOI Team? It's certainly something to think about it.

Whenever a girl group breaks up it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. But because I was never infatuated with them will make it easier for me to let them go.

Big Shock!

A funny thing happened on Friday, I found out a female friend of mine is a Morning Musume fan. I never really had any idea that she was even into Jpop, let alone Morning Musume. The truth is I'm still shocked because the fact that these girls are marketed toward a male audience and yet there still seems to be appeal for females.

How it happened was that she knew I primarily listened to Jpop and she said she wanted the new Morning Musume single and I nonchalantly said I had it. I did not full out admit to being a big Morning Musume fan because of the stereotypes that are attached to that. I played it cool and gave her the song, then we preceded to watch the video which I just happened to have on the computer.

After all this I realize I'm still embarrassed to me a Momosu fan. :(

Sexy Boy PV

Previews of the PV are out and I have mixed opinions about it. The dance shot is just a huge bore, something I can't stand to watch even if it is pretty much the full video. The other preview is what I believe to be a short preview of the normal PV. That being a billion times better than the dance shot.

Lets take a look at the dance shot first. The dance shot has a fixed camera overlooking the girls, and when I mean overlooking I mean way up there. It's hard to make out the girls if you don't already have a good idea of how they look. Isn't that going against everything H!P is based on? We must be able to admire the girls!!

The normal PV is a completely different story. I really enjoy the beginning part with the girls staring at the camera as they pass by with perplexed looks. Morning Musume in hats is just something I cherish very much. I don't remember one time when any of the girls didn't look good in a hat.

So the story here is normal PV gets a thumbs up, dance shot version a thumbs down.

Byakuyakou

I have to say that Byakuyakou is the drama that I'm enjoying the most right now. Though there has only been one episode that was subbed, it was one hell of an episode. The first episode gives us a glimpse of the future right before it sends us back to the past of the main characters.

The two are still children and Ryouji, the male lead, takes interest in the girl sitting across from him in the library. That girl is the female lead, Yukiho. At first Yukiho is annoyed by the fact that Ryouji wants to befriend her but soon they become good friends.

Both families of the children are in some sort of trouble. Ryouji's family has a cheating mother and a father who's worried about his falling business. Yukiho on the other hand has no father and a mother who seems to use her for a certain reason which will be revealed to us later in a nice surprise.

*Super Spoilers Ahead*

Now for the big surprise, Ryouji's father is a pedophile who takes pictures of young Yukiho. Ryouji follows Yukiho to an abandoned building and finds out that his father is taking nude pictures of her. In that moment of surprise and anger Ryouji stabs his own father, killing him in cold blood. Ryouji is distraught and unable to think clearly while Yukiho comforts him by telling him she was the one that killed his father, not him.

There's even more to that in the first episode but I don't want to reveal anymore of it. I want people to go watch this drama. It's that good.

Thanks to SARS-fansubs for the great release.

Rainbow 7 Thoughts

After losing interest in Morning Musume's music these last few months, Rainbow 7 has reminded me why I enjoyed their music in the first place. It is just simple, pure fun to listen to. These past few days it has been playing on a constant loop on my playlist. I enjoy each and every song, except for maybe Joshi Kashimashi Monogatari 3. Songs I would like to give particular attention to are Rainbow Pink, the Chokkan 2 remix and Mushoku Toumei na Mama de.

Rainbow Pink is just super cuteness to the max with Sayu and Koharu doing a duet. The song takes place in an imaginary concert setting and fits the song perfectly. It just lifts your spirits so much it isn't funny. You feel all warm on the inside at the end.

The Chokkan 2 remix gets your heart going. You want to go win an Olympic medal or something. I've stuck this song on my mp3 player and played it each morning while I'm heading to class. It sets you just in the right mood to take on a long day of classes.

Mushoku Toumei na Mama de is the relaxing song of these three. I can't help but notice Konkon's voice in this one, I don't know why but I'm really enjoying her vocals in this song. This is the song you play when you have a need to start crying for no reason.

All in all a great album release by Morning Musume and my faith is restored in them.

Hello Morning Cut Job

Seems like Kago Ai has been cut out of this week's episode of Hello Morning. Originally it was suppose to be a valentine's special with Morning Musume and W as shown by the preview the previous week, but now consists of only a small portion in which Kago isn't in. The rest of the show has been put together with clips of old Magic Restaurant games. This is just too depressing.

Obligatory Kago Ai Post

For those who don't know already, Kago Ai has been suspended for underage smoking. This is just too extreme of a punishment by UFA, H!P or whoever. Sure underage smoking is not something to condone but the punishment is way too much in my opinion.

This brings to point the vast differences between the entertainment industry in the U.S. and that in Japan. What immediately comes to mind is the numerous amount of scandals by Lindsay Lohan, I'm sure she has done more scandalous activities than we could ever imagine. I can't think of one off the top of my head but I'm sure a simple google search would yield enough results for those who are inclined. Lindsay's career hasn't been suspended, she continues acting in films and working on her music, why must it be any different for Kago Ai?

The suspension is probably due in large part to the fanatic fans of H!P. Most probably believe that these girls must stay pure for the rest of their lives. Catching one of them smoking would break this rule and send the fan crying in the corner or the complete opposite, wishing death upon them.

There needs to be a change in the idol industry in Japan. The rules need to be loosened and the fans need to start realizing that these girls are human, they make mistakes.

Rainbow 7 Album Preview

Been listening to the previews at ikkimoshoi and they're really starting to grow on me. It's the typical music you would expect from Morning Musume but seems somewhat fresh from the past singles that have been released. I'm really starting to have high hopes for this album. I guess when you don't expect much and it turns out to be pretty good, it make it that much better.

Aozora ga Itsumademo Tsuzuku you na Mirai de Are is a nice upbeat song with a really catchy chorus. Makes me want to sing along if I could catch the Japanese words. But for now humming it will have to do.

Mushoku Toumei na nama de is the complete opposite, a very slow ballad. Mikitty seems to be taking the lead in this song from the short preview. It puts on a display of Mikitty's unique voice and makes me yearn more and more for her solo career to return

Won't be long until the full album is released. I can't believe I'm actually hyped about it. Yay yay!

YUI - TOKYO

Back in college now and don't have much time. Haru and Natsu's family see no other alternative but to immigrate to Brazil and seek a better life. Unfortunately Natsu is unable to pass the health test at the port while they are leaving for Brazil and is forced to stay behind while the rest of her family leave.

The drama starts off 70 years after the separation of the two sisters, Haru and Natsu. Haru returns to Japan and begins her search to find her sister whom she hasn't had any contact with since that fateful day. After Haru has finally found Natsu, Natsu does not accept Haru as her sister because she abandoned her that day. Haru and the rest of the family promised Natsu they would return for her 3 years later but that never happened. Natsu has held a grudge against her whole family.

This whole situation was caused by letters not being able to reach either of the sisters. Natsu was given the wrong address for the plantation in Brazil that her family was suppose to be in, and due to the fact that Haru attached money to her letters, the family taking care of her did not give her the letters and kept the money for themselves.

In the first episode we see these events unfolding as well as the life Haru had in Brazil where it wasn't as great as rumored back in Japan. Her life is filled with hard labor from morning to night and is glad that Natsu stayed behind in. At the end of the episode both of them are finally able to find the letters they never received.

So far this drama is really different from the ones I've been watching. First of all it was interesting to find out about the large number of Japanese immigrating to Brazil and it's a nice change from the trivial troubles most protagonist in dramas face. It's only 5 episodes so hopefully they can fit a nice ending in those many episodes.

About time

Since its been so long since I enjoyed an episode of Hello! Morning I decided to cherish it a little more by making a post about it. This week Morning Musume and crew head out to various areas of interest. First up we have Rika, Eriri, Konkon, Yuko, and Risa heading off to a theme park. We have them practice skating on ice and then some various other games. Highlight was definitely seeing all of them try their best at skating while a little 6 year old girl was owning them in every way and form.

From there they play a little bowling game on ice, but that's not so fun. What's fun is when they head off to the rollercoasters. I couldn't stop the smile on my face just hearing all of them screaming, classic joy. Pity that Eririn and Yuko didn't ride on the rollercoaster though.

Since there's always competition involved, Eririn and Rika lose and must pay the penalty. Yuko, Konkon and Rika head off for food while the two losers must face a haunted house.

Risa was the big girl in this one and took care of Eririn who just couldn't stop screaming. I'm starting to like Risa a lot more after this since she has that mothering nature about her. Eririn stop panicking, it's not real! I still love you though.

The other segment was a volleyball game and a big disappointment. Wasn't Koharu a volleyball captain when she was in school? She ran away from the volleyball! That's not captain material. The Hello! Morning team was defeated big time. The only saving grace was when Miki decided to dive on Koharu because she's so baaaaaad.

The appearence of Yuko made me realize who much I'm missing her in the Hello! Morning segments, they need to bring her back!

Bakajo Get!

Time to go in the time machine and travel back in time. We arrive just in time for the Mechaike where we find out who's the baka in Morning Musume. This lineup of Morning Musume consists of all of Fourth Gen, Fifth Gen, Yasuda Kei, Yaguchi Mari, Iida Kaori, and Abe Natsumi. So which one of these girls is the baka? First we have to take the test to find out.

The test consists of five subjects, Japanese, Social Studies, Science, Math, and English. The girls are given 50 minutes for each subject. But getting the girls into a classroom is a whole another story. They went into the studio under the pretense of filming a commercial for Quidam, which as we all shall see was a big shock when they were faced with a classroom instead of a set.

First up, the surprised faces of the girls walking into a classroom.

Hmm. This was when I barely had any knowledge of jpop. One day a Amuro Namie discography torrent appeared and I said why not, and downloaded it. The tragic thing was I just left it on my hard drive and didn't even listen to any of the songs. Fast forward a couple of months when my hard drive decided to make weird sounds and then, to no one's surprise, ceased to stop working.

It was all good, I let out a couple of yells, 30 gigs of jpop all gone, most I havn't even listened to once, which included all of Namie's songs. So where do we go from here? I was watching Jpopsuki TV (it's super awesome) and I caught a glimpse of NEVER END and that song just got stuck in my head, but I never knew who sang the song. It took a couple of more times of me watching it to finally remember who it was, and it was Amuro Namie! From there I downloaded what I could of her and began falling in love. It really takes a couple of listens for me to really get into a Namie song. But soon I had ALARM, So Crazy, and more recently Violet Sauce going on repeat in my head. It was pure joy. Now to the pics!

You bore Namie to sleep!

Spread the peace, yo.

Oh my, oh my.

I surrender to only you.

The lesson here today children is that you don't know what you have until you lose it! But I've been thinking a long time about this. From the first time I saw Maiha I thought I had seen her some where before already. She looked really familiar and I just couldn't quite put my finger on it. Then I finally realized she looked just like Ron Weasley. I'm not the only one that thinks that right?

She must be part of the Weasley family of the east. A chapter in the Weasley family we had no idea about, a distant relative who enjoyed JPOP so much he or she had to move to Japan to satisfy their obsession. And in no time Ishimura Maiha was born.

There could be a possibility that the prestigious school she was accepted in to was just a cover, she was actually heading off to Hogwarts on a journey to learn about the wonders of magic. Of course one must keep hush hush about such an event, especially for a relatively famous person as Maiha, heading to Hogwarts would be front page news!

Lets go over some facts. Students who are eligible head to Hogwarts at the age of 11. This would place Maiha at the age of 11 on November 20, 2003. Berryz Koubou debuted March 3, 2004, and Maiha must have deferred her acceptance to Hogwarts to see this venture through. But while she was singing and dancing her sweet self in Japan, trouble was brewing in the Wizarding World. Voldermort had returned and Harry Potter could not handle it alone no longer

Queue Ishimura Maiha as the savior of Hogwarts and all things magical. She no longer could stay in the Muggle world and watch as Voldermort takes over. Now with Dumbledore murdered, a new power must rise to protect both worlds. They were pretty much at the same subdued state for most of the performances. The only ohhs and aahs we got happened when Gorie performed, and I must say those were well deserved. I'm probably too use to the crazy fans from the H!P concerts. I mostly skipped through the acts I didn't know, which usually meant when the older performers went on.

That's a lot of girls. All I have to say is that I sure loved Morning Musume's red costumes.
